Rittal Online Seminar – System climate basics

Heat from a semiconductor heating element (PTC thermistor) is transferred to the enclosure inside air via an aluminium heat sink. Typical heating outputs lie between 10 and 300 W.

The PTC element possesses self-regulating properties, i.e. the surface temperature of the heating is limited to 65°C.

In the case of larger heating systems (200 / 300 W), the heat transfer is improved by integrating fans.

For exact enclosure temperature control the heating must be connected via an additional thermostat or via a hygrostat to prevent condensation.
