The sources of interference can be categorised into
external sources (in the vicinity of the disturbed device)
- natural (lightning, electrostatic discharges)
- man-made (of technical origin, through functions or unintentional)
internal sources (within a device, a system or a module)
- almost always of technical origin, through functions or unintentional, in rare cases also electrostatic discharges
