through high currents,

  • induction of interference voltages or
  • direct magnetic effects possible (magnetic storage of computers; monitors; sensitive electromagnetic measuring devices, e.g. EEG)

Practical significance:

  • Magnetic fields with technically low frequencies (16 2/3 Hz, 50/60 Hz) in the vicinity of railway overhead lines, aluminium melting furnaces, chlorine gas electrolysis plants.

Countermeasures:

  • shielded cables,
  • shielded housings (especially with regard to the material, whereby the property permeability is decisive, e.g. mu-metal).
