With its 25 years of experience STRATEC Biomedical Systems AG based in Birkenfeld is the top technology provider for integral, fully automated analytical systems. The analytical systems are developed and produced for partners in the field of clinical diagnosis and biotechnology. Via these partners the analytical systems are distributed worldwide to the actual end users such us laboratories, blood banks and research institutions.
With the development of the analytical systems platform "4-PS" (4-plate system) from STRATEC it is possible to process a broad spectrum of EIA test systems (Enzyme Immuno Assay) based on microplates. All manually very laborious processes from the distribution of patient samples up to data evaluation of measuring results will be automatically carried out in 4-PS.
A reliable measuring result of the temperature is one of the most critical parameter. Since the test systems are based on temperature-dependant enzymatic reactions very high temperatures inside the instrument may influence the test results. In addition some reagents loose their activity faster at high temperatures. This may influence the test results as well.
For this reason Rittal has developed a climate control unit in cooperation with STRATEC. This unit achieves a temperature decrease of the interior of the analytical system between 20°C and 25°C that is kept constantly by a uniform exhaust temperature of 22°C. In additon the solution may be easily retrofitted and works as a fully autonomous system, i.e. it is equipped with an autonomous power supply. In order to take the workplace convenience of the users into account, the cooling unit may only develop a low noise level. This is successfully realised by a special cover that is lined with sound insulation mats.
Thus a constant temperature of the samples is ensured and the foundation for a reliable diagnosis is laid.
