Designed to fit their full range of enclosures with minimum effort, Rittal can provide a large range of lighting and accessories for a small wall box through to a large floor standing enclosure whatever the location.

All too often well designed professional enclosure fit outs are let down by their incorrect illumination and are sometimes difficult to maintain and service in their final resting place, due to poor lighting.

Rittal’s range of lighting has options for integrated door switches, power sockets along with wiring looms, florescent lights in a range of voltages and LED strip lights to minimise power consumption, providing a long service life. Also available is a range of inter connecting cables in various lengths enable you to daisy chain a number of lights for a full suite of enclosures bayed together.

The Xpress 7 day modification Service from Rittal

Following a great deal of investment into machinery and equipment RITTAL has launched a new service branded RittalXpress. The main aim of the service is to save customers time and money by placing orders via an online configurator, or by contacting the designated RittalXpress team.

RittalXpress has been created following extensive market research and discussions with customers which highlighted that requirements from a key supplier would be more support in delivering a one stop cost effective enclosure solution, pre-configured and delivered within a short time period, allowing more time for concentration on their core business activities.

It is now possible to order a complete enclosure solution from one source with one invoice and one delivery from the largest range of enclosures that can be modified and delivered within 7 working days. This provides a complete turn-key enclosure solution.

With access to the new RittalXpress website at www.rittalxpress.co.uk it is possible to search for a product to suit your requirements by either application, size, IP rating, material or part number. You can then configure the enclosure by adding the required accessories from the RITTAL range, with the added benefit of knowing that only accessories suited to the chosen part number will be available for your selection, preventing mistakes from incorrect selections.

RittalXpress can also incorporate modification of the enclosure from simple holes, round or square including threads, through to more time consuming cut outs, such as large apertures for fans and filters, baying kits or special repeat patterns. This is possible to carry out on any face of the enclosure whether it is the door, roof, side panels, gland plates or mounting panels, using the latest machinery to provide high tolerances of accuracy, improving overall quality and eliminating expensive mistakes, leaving all the risk with RITTAL.

Rittal rain canopy enhances outdoor enclosures use

Although most of Rittal’s AE Compact Enclosure range is rated to IP66, they were not designed to be used as outdoor enclosures. The introduction of stainless steel models improved the protection against moisture and air-borne contaminants which made the enclosures particularly suitable for a wide variety of process control applications.

Customers have been requesting a fully weatherproof version (IP66 only relates to dust and water under laboratory conditions, and takes no account of wide temperature variations or snow and ice). To combat potential weather related problems, Rittal have introduced a series of rain canopies for the enclosures

.

Made from 1.4301 stainless steel the canopies provide water run-off to the rear. They cover the join between the door and the enclosure itself, preventing water build-up on the seal and the possible reduction in effectiveness following freezing during sub-zero temperature periods. To prevent wind driven rain from collecting the canopies also cover the sides and rear of the enclosure at the top. A secondary function of the canopies is to shield the top of the enclosure from direct sunlight, thus reducing the solar temperature gain inside and the need for cooling solutions.

The canopies are easily retro-fitted to the enclosure and are supplied with assembly parts. Alternative stainless steel or aluminium canopies can be supplied for other enclosures if required.

Rittal eliminates condensation from waterproof enclosures

One of the main problems in enclosures is the effects of thermal cycling and humidity. Hot air holds more moisture, which condenses on cold surfaces when the temperature drops. In an IP55 rated enclosure it is difficult to eliminate the condensation without compromising the IP rating.

Rittal has introduced a “condensation drain relief” which enables the liquid to be discharged below the enclosure while still maintaining the IP rating. Designed to be fitted to the enclosure floor, the polycarbonate device prevents splashes from the outside due to the labyrinth effect, and meets IP55 to EN60.529/09.2000 if correctly installed in a 16mm hole.

Alternative enclosures are available from Rittal which reduce the likelihood of condensation due to having twin walls which reduce the direct solar heating effect and therefore most condensation is formed between the wall skins. Condensation is then able to naturally discharge outside the enclosure, thus not adding to the internal moisture, and associated problems. In severe circumstances, or where particularly sensitive equipment is installed, Rittal have heaters to maintain minimum temperature in the enclosure.
